Capella Shanghai Joins Five-Star Portfolio

Capella Singapore marks 14 consecutive years at Five-Star level

Forbes Travel Guide, the only global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants, spas and cruise ships, today announced its 2026 Star Awards, with six properties under Capella Hotel Group recognised at the highest Five-Star level.

Capella Shanghai earned an elevated Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star award and is showcased with other honorees on ForbesTravelGuide.com. The heritage shikumen hotel now joins Capella Singapore, Bangkok, and Hanoi as well as Patina Maldives, Fari Islands as Five-Star properties.

Capella at Galaxy Macau, the brand’s newest addition which opened on 10 February, also earned a Five-Star rating in its debut recognition, marking an exceptional achievement for a pre-opening property. Located within Galaxy Macau’s integrated resort, the property brings Capella’s signature approach to cultural curation and personalised service to one of Asia’s most dynamic entertainment destinations.

Across the portfolio, all previously rated properties, spas and restaurants retained their rankings: Capella Sydney and Capella Ubud held Four-Star ratings while Auriga Spas in Singapore and Bangkok maintained Five-Star ratings. Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire at Capella Shanghai continued its Four-Star restaurant rating.

Capella Shanghai’s elevation reflects the unseen artistry when visionary curation of culture meets operational discipline,” said Clive Edwards, Senior Vice President, Operations, Capella Hotel Group. “From Singapore’s 14-year legacy to Shanghai’s progression to Macau’s debut, our properties demonstrate that deep cultural immersion strengthens service excellence, validating our approach as we expand further with Patina Tianjin and Capella Nanjing in 2026, each rooted in their distinct cultural contexts.
