This season, The Lanesborough invites guests to indulge in a rare taste of Viennese culinary heritage with an exclusive pop-up in the elegant Withdrawing Room, celebrating two of Austria’s most iconic desserts. For a strictly limited period, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the Original Sacher-Torte and traditional Apple Strudel, served in collaboration with the luxurious 5-star-superior Hotel Sacher Wien, owned and run by family to this day, in The Lanesborough’s iconic Withdrawing Room.
Created in 1832 by Franz Sacher and guarded by a closely held recipe, the Original Sacher-Torte is one of the world’s most celebrated cakes and a piece of Austrian history. The Original Sacher-Torte is still handmade in 34 individual steps, layered with apricot jam, finished with its distinctive chocolate glaze and best enjoyed with unsweetened whipped cream. Alongside it, the classic Apple Strudel, delicately filled with spiced apples and wrapped in paper-thin pastry, offers an equally authentic taste of Vienna’s café culture.
Presented in the refined surroundings of The Lanesborough’s Withdrawing Room, the pop-up brings together Old World craftsmanship and London elegance, offering guests a unique afternoon indulgence that pays homage to one of Europe’s most storied hotels.
Available from 10th February through the end of May, these exquisite desserts are served daily and paired with the hotel’s renowned Sacher-style coffee selections. Guests may choose classic preparations, versions enhanced with an alcoholic flourish, or indulgently styled alongside a perfectly balanced Negroni.
