Saeed Nagy is one of the most re-knowned engineers in Egypt in the realm of construction of tourist resorts. He is an engineer representing the ownership in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh. Thirty years ago, he started as an implementation engineer at Sinai Tourism Development Company, which owns many hotels and resorts. He kept working hard for a period of ten years until he became a project manager. After that, he joined Prima Life and Naga Bay companies as a project manager and implemented many hotels with them.

A lot of us maybe unaware about the relevance of what role an engineer plays especially during the pre opening of a hotel. He/She is responsible for several crucial tasks leading up-to the grand opening of a hotel which includes planning, implementing and overseeing the maintenance of all building systems, equipment, and grounds. They also play a crucial role in staff training, safety management, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. 

Saeed works as an engineering consultant and offers his services to many owners of companies in Hurghada. He loves his work very much and reveals with pride that this is his passion not just his profession. Saeed is characterized by strong management skills and excels in forming a specialized work team in a short period of time. He can form the largest contracting companies in a short time period due to his good reputation, expertise and honesty in dealing with his colleagues. He travels constantly to update himself with relevant knowledge about his profession and to learn more about the latest trends and techniques related to engineering in terms of a hotel’s pre-opening.

He is very serious about his work and decisive because he started his life with military engineers in the Egyptian army, which made him a fantastic manager and a tenacious leader. Saeed initially dreamed of becoming a football player and loves traveling to historical countries. He also spends a lot of time doing social work to contribute to society and to help the underprivileged. He says he values relationships and friendships to the extent that he is still in touch with his school friends and believes in walking the talk.

Please tell us about your role.
My profession as an engineer (project manager) is characterized by managing resort projects, including comprehensive design, construction, costs, and delivery for the largest international hotel management companies. I work as a representative of the owner, fully responsible for the project implementation, costs, licenses and delivery.

 If you could plan a one-day itinerary for guests looking to explore Egypt, where would you send them?
I would advise guests and tourists to definitely visit The Grand Egyptian Museum which is a museum near the pyramids in Giza, Egypt. It’s a massive new museum that houses a vast collection of Egyptian artifacts, including those from the pyramids. The GEM is located a short distance from the Great Pyramids of Giza, making it a convenient destination for those visiting the pyramids.

Secondly i highly recommend that guests experience Nile Cruise while in Egypt. The Al Ahly Club does not have its own specific Nile Cruise however the Al Ahly Sporting Club in Cairo is located near the Nile River, and there are many Nile Cruise options available in Cairo, including dinner cruises with shows and sightseeing tours. You can book these cruises separately from your visit to the Al Ahly Club.

Building the right team is crucial for a property’s success. What are the key skills you look for when hiring new employees?
Individuals who are able to work under pressure, those who are constantly following up on professional updates, those who are good at teamwork, showcase honesty and loyalty are the key skills i look for while hiring new employees.

What is the USP of your hotel?

Any hotel that I have made is distinguished by containing all the entertainment and recreation requirements for a guest, his/her family and his children, so that he/she does not need to leave the hotel for any entertainment or to eat – the rooms are implemented to suit all families – compatible with global architectural fashion.

Please tell us more about Egyptian cuisine.

Egyptian cuisine rich due to the Nile Valley’s bounty and the influence of various cultures. Legumes, vegetables, fruits and a variety of meats like poultry, beef and lamb are apart of the regular diet of the locals. Stews, stuffed vegetables, grilled meat and tasty dips can be found in the menu of Egyptian homes as well as hotels and restaurants. a few popular preparations include Kushari, falafel, mahshi, kebabs and koftas, mulukhiya, shewarmas and baba ghanoush.

Where do you plan to travel in the year 2025?
I plan to travel to Barcelona, Morocco, Portugal in this year.

Was a career in hospitality something you always dreamt of? 
I always dreamt of building hotels and resorts as I am basically an architect and this is my passion for years now and continues to drive me to perform to the best of my abilities. .

Which cities are your favourites for: 1) food 2) history 3) fashion?
My favourite place for history is Egypt, the food in Istanbul is my favourite and i love the fashion that Italy showcases.

You have worked in several cities, which is your favourite city for work and play?
Hurghada city, Sharm Elskh in Egypt is my favourite city for work and play.

 When are you happiest?
When I make my family happy it gives me tremendous joy, when i make a poor person happy by helping them i feel happy, whenever i help a young aspiring engineer by guiding him in the right direction i feel immense joy and i am most happiest when i open a new hotel.
